hey brando,
that weird injection set up you are talking about is TBI, throttle body injection. it has the injectors in the throttle body, not in the intake runners at the ports. very common on GM trucks.

Ahh...got ya, the older S-10 used the same engine, didn't it?

yeah older S-10's also used the 2.5L. they are good engines for the most part and with the exception of the placement of the coil packs they are pretty easy to work on. just today i pulled the head off of a 92 century with a 2.5 because it has a stuck valve, did that in a little over an hour.
but as far as performance goes, i say sell the car and get one with a V6 in it. i think it will be more trouble than its worth to convert the car to a V6, unless you have a donor car sitting right there. it certainly isn't a drop in job, things like the AC accumulator have to be moved and you'd have to get a trans for a V6 too, not sure if the 4cyl trans will take the abuse.

Hey 420... Make yourself up a cheap custom intake... It'll add a little, and if not, it'll sound cool...

Flip the cover over on your air cleaner!
MEXICAN SUPERCHARGER
If you want to smoke the ricers out instead, put a bottle of "mother's blue" blue jean dye in the tank, and watch them cough to death... You wont have to worry about beating them then. You should see what this stuff does when you put a couple drops in a lawnmower!!!!

The sound is cool! I had an 84 caprice with a 305... Man that thing would whine like a bitch when I had the throttle wide open with my mexican supercharger! Suprised some people!

In the time I have spent with my 2.5 litre 4 cylinder in my Ciera, I can say THIS ENGINE IS NOT FOR SPEED! If you really want speed, get a Ciera with the 3.8 or get a Cutlass Supreme. If you just want a car that will start every time, keep the 2.5, but if you need to burn street racers, YOU GOT THE WRONG CAR! In summary: 2.5 litre 4: good on gas, starts every time, other then the small oil leak it has no big problems;but street races are with it!
