I have a 69 cutlass conv, that I am trying to find an aftermarket tach that fits in the stock dash, clock pod. I am also running a HEI Pertronix Dist.

1) Does anyone have any suggestions?
2) What anchors the tach in place, since the pod has no real anchoring location?
3) do you have any pictures too?

Thanks

Lou, usually the instruments in the dash are secured by a ring around the circumference of the device, near the front, this ring has tabs on it which are parrallel to the face and have holes in them. These holes facillitate mounting with small screws to the back of the dash material. If your other gauges like the speedo are mounted that way and you can see some standoffs of some kind in the place where the clock should be, then perhaps you can find a tach which is the same diameter and use one of those mounting rings, assuming you can find one in a junked car or on ebay. Perhaps getting a stock tach would be the last resort, you could use the mounting ring and resell the tach.
