I recently put Hotchkis lowering springs on my 78 Cutlass.I bought them for the fronts & rears,but at different times.Now the front end sits a bit higher than the rear.Now I know some people like that look,and if I did I would do it with a wheel/tire combination,otherwise I'd like it to sit evenly.I have KYB Gas-a-Just shocks at all four corners.Am I going to have to shave the fronts? I think that would destroy the ride quality & the spring effeciency.Any help? Thanx

FWIW: I read on ROP that you should drive it for a couple of weeks and it will settle to the springs designed ride height.

Springs sag over the years and if Hotchkis is using the factory height as a reference, I would think there is the possibility their "lowering springs" would raise a 25 year old car.

If by shave, you mean cut the coils, I think you would have been way ahead by doing just that in the first place. Doing so would have increased your spring rates slightly, nothing more or less.

Your ride quality is dictated by your shocks.

I would be quick to disagree with this post if I sold springs.

Its been more than a couple weeks,and I originally did cut the front coils...way too stiff,and too low.The shocks are not more than 2 yrs old.These springs are Hotchkis one inch drop springs for this year G-body.It looks like 1.5" in back,1" in front
