well, i have alot of things that need to be replaced in the cutlass.. heres the list..
1.fuel filter
2.thermosestat
3.pcv valve
4.belt
5.brakes & tires
6.battery, soon.
7.new left front fender.

this list is everything i want and need for the car to not only look better, but run better... id also like to do all this before winter..

Why would it not be worth fixing? Those are relatively small items, and cheap aswell. I would fix what needs to be fixed, even if you dont want to keep the car, as working cars sell for a lot more $$$

thats true, most of the things i need done are cheap. i dunno the reason i ask, is because the more i drive it, the more i have problems with it.. but if i godda fix it, i godda fix it..

The items ya have there listed is not very expensive. It should be worth it even if you don't keep it. Fact, thats a very short list compared to mine to do before my Olds gets back on the road in December.

ehh, i guess its not that big of a list... just have to do it once at a time and hope to have it all done by winter...

Brakes and tires belong at the top of the list.
Not much chance of getting hurt if it won't go.
Easy to get killed if it doesn't stop.

fuel filter is very cheap....not hard to do...but if your fuel lines are rusty, trying to replace it will surely lead to new fuel lines also.

thermostat...again, very cheap and very easy to do.

pcv valve...yet another cheap piece, and easy to replace.

belt....uh...cheap and easy

brakes and tires....more expensive, but definately not to be overlooked, as norm said, should be at the top of the list.

battery, don't go cheap on it (especially with the cold weather coming up soon)....I would highly recommend an optima battery, best imo.

new left front fender...what's wrong with it? Is it just a dent or is it rusty and falling apart?

thats true norm.. well, its got a dent, and its tartin to rust out a lil bit... but as far as all the other stuff,. its all easy.. brakes and tires will have to come first.

I agree with the brakes and tires. If you dont want to spend alot on it, the best way to save is to ignore the fender for now. Mechanical things should probably came first, and then if you have the dough, do the fender. Thats just my opinion tho.

dont worry, your opinion is a good one.. its just, i hate havin a massive dent in the car.. but, id rather have it run right, then not.

That's really not too hard.....not too expensive either.

Good time to change your belt too if you haven't already...

Oh yea...you'll also want to change that thermostat since your going to have to drain the coolant anyways. I would give it a good flush too....I forget what it's called....super flush or something...but I would run that through there too...once you get the water pump changed and thermostat. After that, drain it again...and fill it up 50/50 water and antifreeze. Might as well change the PCV while your at it too...since it's right there....and cheap

Yeah Brando, I agree. Whenever I do a water pump, I do all new belts, hoses, thermostat, PCV and other small shyt while I have it torn apart, and do a flush of the whole system. Be sure to flush the heater core too. I stick a hose where the thermostat housing was and let the engine flush out, along with the heater core, and then I do the same to the radiator. After that, I put everything back together and just fill the radiator with straight antifreeze since the is just water in the block since I flushed it. Itll take a day, but the car will love you for it.
