What a coincidence. That is about 60 bucks more than it would have cost, if you had not bailed out of this thread.

In return for your $60.00, you missed the opportunity to learn how to diagnose and repair it yourself, along with the satisfaction that comes from doing it yourself.

The part that bothers me most is, that by bailing out, you took the same learning opportunity away from many present, and future vistors. Learning is, after all, why we are here.

Or, to put into a form, even you can understand: That $60.00 could have bought you a lot of beer.

Tell us why you think so.

I like how its "fuck you" when you don't need help, and "please help me" when you do.

Diagnostic theory is as follows. Most likely, to less likely. Certain systems in a carb have to be working properly in order for the other systems to work properly. You were halfway there. Just because you quit doesn't make it bad advice.

As for thread hijacks, look in the mirror.

Norm,
I could see that you were teaching a class on the first page. Kudos to your patience. I learned two things one about the quadrajet and one about people
Gravereaper,
You need to learn some patience and you need to learn how be humble. There is nothing wrong with being wrong sometimes. Getting your car fixed via this thread may have taken up a lot of time but how valuable is that time compared to a lesson learned that will stay with you forever? I am fifty two years old and have worked on a lot of carburetors but learned something myself about quadrajets this morning reading this post.
Well guys, I am ten minutes into my boss's time so I have to sign off and go to work now.

Whenever given the chance, it's what I do, here and elsewhere.

Thanks.

Emotional outbursts from the 1% notwithstanding, one only needs to keep focused on the reason we are all here.

Too bad he bailed out. It was a near perfect teaching aid, and we were just starting the parts that deal with, both, power and driveability.

Your mechanic can show you how. Right after he finishes setting up your carb for you.

Now we know the comp is hooked up, so we have another piece of the puzzle.

Not needed yet. We can do it when we are actually looking for codes ........

With the engine off, and the choke closed, see if the above linkage moves when the throttle is opened fully.

Repeat, while manually holding the choke open ........

What is your point?
