Thought I'd make a topic....maybe we could start something here....

Talk about whatever is on your mind and maybe post a picture.

I'll start. My classes are finally getting near the end. My machining class is pretty much already over (can't use the machines anymore). I was able to finish up a part I had designed for the Delta 88. It's a throttle body spacer...why did I make it? Not sure really....I suppose you could say it gave me something to do within the short period of time I had in class. It was a pretty simple design...and I learned some neat mill "tricks" making it. Here is the finished product.

All of it was done on a Bridgeport mill. Well...a horizontal band saw as well as a vertical band saw were also used to cut the stock to a workable size for the mill.
The best part is, it actually fits on the the intake...the holes line up and everything...

I just did a bunch of maintenance on my car, nothing special just the usual stuff that I do before putting it to bed for winter. Changed the engine oil and transmission fluid, did a basic tune up on the engine, etc. The brakes also needed some attention, so I ended up getting new front brakes (rotors and pads)

I hadn't changed the spark plugs in about 2 years so I pulled them to check them out (I had new ones to install anyway) and to my delight they were all immaculate! They looked like they were barely used. Not that I expected any problems, but it was just nice to see. I almost felt bad putting the new ones in, but I figured if I went to the trouble to pull them out and I already had the new ones... I might as well install them.

While changing the fuel filter I noticed the carburetor was loose. Not loose where it mounted to the intake, but loose at a joint about halfway up the carb. I had to remove it to get at the screws underneath to tighten it up. Installed a new gasket between the carb and the intake as long as I had it off, as the old one looked questionable.

I also detailed the car and put a nice coat of wax on it. Bought a cover for it too, It lives indoors but this will be a nice barrier for the dust and any scratches it might get from people walking by and brushing against it, leaning on it, etc.

I'm still driving it though, I'll drive it right up until they start sanding the roads around here.... which will probably be very soon  They're predicting snow for tomorrow night, it probably won't stick though, the ground isn't really frozen yet.

It's not all bad... when it's time to park the Olds that also means it's time to get my snowmobiles out.
