ANYONE EVER SEEN A CONSOLE TOP PLATE WITH A VACAUM GAUGE ATTACHED TO IT? THE GAUGE SAYS OLDSMOBILE ON IT.

That would be a different story then, wouldn't it? I don't think we'll ever know if the caps/shift keys are broken unless they tell us. I do have to admit, I've encountered a similar problem on my laptop (bumping the 'function' key and 'shift' key at the same time, resulting in everything I type appear as if I'm holding down 'shift'), but it does still hurt the eyes.

In regards to the post, I wish I could help, but you definitely came to the right place. Everyone I've encountered here seems to know their stuff and are very nice. I just felt compelled to respond to the 'broken keyboard' comment..
