For all you Mozilla Firefox users,
I fixed the front page (portal) so that the width wasn't all messed up.
Only Mozilla Firefox did it, IE loaded the page correctly....sorry for the bad HTML coding

Hi Brando
Thanks, I thought it looked sort of strange this evening. Its been so long I got used to it being too wide.
Regards, Norm

Hi Brando, All
Quote:
IE......... only takes one click on the link. Not so with Firefox.
I downloaded the latest "Firefox" build tonight, came by here and discovered they fixed the above minor issue. :D
I hope you didn't lose any sleep over it.
Regards, Norm

Hi Brando, hello all
I dropped by using "Konqueror" last night. You don't want to know what it looked like.
When I get Linux up like I want it, I'll be using Firefox.
Regards, Norm

No problem with the recent topic here with safari.
Could be a problem with the Java in IE.
I'm running java 1.4.2
Safari uses the webcore framework which uses the cross platform KHTML library.
Really fast loading browser.

Hi AJ, Brando, All
I would be using Safari for sure if I had a MAC.
As far as "Konqueror" is concerned, this is one of the sites I used to check it out, and it failed miserably.
At work I had no choice but to use IE6, so, I'm not there any more.
At home Firefox is quick and works well on this Pentium II/233/WIN 98SE, and is now installed on the Linux OS in my other P/233.
It might be a bit before I get the Linux personalized and feel comfortable using it, but, I won't need it 'till MS pulls the plug on support for 98X. I refuse to use XP.
Regards, Norm

What are some advantages to some of the browsers you guys have mentioned over IE6? I'm using IE, always have..... never really had any problems but I don't know if I'm missing something.

Hi 73 Delta,

Well, like anything else..., it's preference. what your most comfortable with. Unfortunately, IE (the most popular browser) has had it's share of black eyes. Security issues, slow loading, ect.
Others like mozilla, firefox, safari (mac only) have different issues as well, but nothing like IE seems to have.
I suggest trying out a few other browsers for comparison.
2 years ago right before safari came out I was using mozilla.
It seemed like a decent browser.
The thing i like about safari from the get go is that is reall fast loading, and automatically blocks pop ups with out any 3rd party add ons.
Of course the draw back is that you have to own a MAC to use it.
Just for kicks and grins, hear is a little about it.
http://www.apple.com/safari/

and mozilla as well....
http://www.mozilla.org/

enjoy...AJ

Hi OldsCruiser, hello All
I agree, but would add: There are many alternate browsers out there and most are either specialized or for people that are looking for something more than the basics. Something akin to customizing your Olds.
Firefox (check here for a newer, and more informative link) is constantly evolving, small, fast loading, open source and separate from the Mozilla browser (the basis for thee Netscape browser).
Open source means that the only limits to your customization are the limits of your imagination.

As far as I know all browsers (and ISPs) now have popup stoppers. To go a little further, do you see any commercial advertising anywhere on this site?
Before Firefox I used Opera,(check this link), also small, fast loading, customizable, and a work in progress.
On my Linux machine (in addition to Firefox) I'll also be trying out Operas latest build to see how it has improved and if it has surpassed the efforts of the Firefox team.
I'm interested in knowing how the current Opera and/or Firefox might compare, in a MAC, to the present Safari after two years.
Brando: I didn't think my tongue in cheek comments would go this far or I would have started a new thread.
Regards, Norm
