I want to get a set of Bucket seats for my car. I am thinking if I HAVE to I will buy a set of APC racing seats if they will fit and I can't find something else. But I would be fine with a set of normal stock seats from a Ciera or whatever that will fit. Any suggestions? I had a local junk yard say I could get a pair for $50.

Have you checked to see if bucket seats will bolt into where your bench seat (That I am assuming you have) are now?

I know in the G-body's that if you had a straight bench seat, you can't just bolt in buckets because they don't have the proper brackets for the seats on the floor pan.

I'd find a similar year car as yours in the junkyard that has buckets and use them before I'd buy any crap from that ricer APC company.

Don't be afraid to look at other makes and models for seats either that may fit.

In my '87 I have a pair of leather seats from a '93 Trans-Am with full power lumbar and 6-way power tracks (out of a spare G-body).
They are 10 times more supportive than the stock G-body seats and a fraction of the cost of brand new racing seats.
I only paid $75 for the pair.

I would only buy the APC "ricer" seat is I HAD to. I am not sure if ey will bolt on to my seats. I was hoping someone has tried. My car has 60/40 bench seats that are powered. To be honest I don't care for power seats. The reasons that people usually like them I don't need to worry about. I am going to check the junkyard on Tuesday see of there are any ceira's with bucket seats. I would just take those then cause unless Olds did some trippy freaked out thing they would take.

Well, what I meant to say is that if your going with aftermarket seats you don't have to settle for APC. There are a ton of aftermarket seat companies out there that make nice seats. Corbeau, Recaro, Procar, etc. Some more expensive than others.

Corbeau

Recaro

Procar

But the cheaper way would be to find a pair of bucket seats from the junkyard. Whether they be for an Olds or not.
I don't know how the FWD Oldsmobiles are but I know that the G-body's share the same seat bolt patter as the 3rd and 4th Gen F-body's ('82-'02) and with the C4 and C5 Corvette's along with others I'm sure.

I have done this a few times and found these things out:

mounting points (the four conrners) may be different, if they are the bucket seats may not be level when installed because the floorplan is usually not level like the floor of a garage is. This means if you use them you will have to find a way to level them yourself using spacers or modified brackets of some kind.

using different seats may mean you will get more or less headroom becuase their seat bottom height may be different from your original seat.

using different seats means they may not match in color exactly, this can be good or bad depending on your preference (you might go with black seats even though you have a red interior and like them even better as far as color match goes).

All these things can be avoided first if you get buckets from a car identical to yours, that way you are assured they will fit and the color will match. If you don't find an exact match to your car, then I would say take out your original seat, make measurments, look at the floor pan, and then do the same when you are looking for replacements. I recommend your local U-pick-it as you have quite a bit of freedom to do this.

Guys, doing your homework first ensures you will pass the test....

hey, keep your engines running.

I thank you all for your advice here. Right now I am working on the power window on the drivers side. Got the motor yesturday so i should be all good.

As for the color. I will be recovering them. Well you guys have seen the pictures of my car. I like my aloha pattern seat covers. That one for the reasons I would just like to get a set from the junkyard. I wont feel as bad for covering them. This is no hurry like I said though.

Other stuff to worry about first. LOL!
