Welp On Monday I had not heard anything new about the happenings on my car. So I called Progressive. They did not hear from the roaming adjuster so they only had what I had told them and what had been noted in my logs already. So I called the peeps working on my car. They said they tore it apart on friday, cleaned out the rocks from under the valve cover and cleaned out the oil. The oil pan was loaded with some white substance. They then dumped some crank cleaner through the motor then put the il back in. Then they started it. It ran a couple mins the stalled. At the pointit wouldn't start again. I am on the other end of the phone thinking...Ummm what about the gas tank? So I asked. They said they tested the fuel and it seemed ok. I said I had told the inusrance company, the cops and them there was evidence that there was something was dumped in the tank. I asked why tehy didn't purge it. They said didnt seem to need to be but they were going to look at see what else could be wrong. OK. So I was kinda upset. Thinking of what could be going wrong in my motor if something bad was being put through it. I was just imagiing all those racer guys talking at drag strips "My freaking car over heats blew a head gasket (not the happened to me 2 times on 2 different cars...My piston rings were fried...injectors cloged..." I was so irritated. I can't say at this point the vandels pissed me off more or if it was what I heard on the phone. So I called my dad quick. He just laughed....we decided it was best toc all my insurance company. So I did. Told them. They were alittle confused also and said that he would look into it. So I let it ride and today I called. This now being 3 days since I heard the news...they said oh its running. They changed the fuel filter and its all good now. Thet drove it and it was fine.

So I said well I will pick it up after work and asked while they had it could the change a bolt on the wheel I broke while I was trying to take my wheels off. Yup. So I get off work later and got get my dad. I called Progressive they sid go ahead and get it just pay your duductable. So I head over. After a confusion where the bill was I paid my $100 for the deducatable. The total bill was $359.98. Wow cheap I thought. I paid $24.95 for my lug and the bolt for it(not gonna use it once the 15's were back on but migh as well put it on now).

Welp all set with the bill. I walk out and start it up. Vroom...wow missed that sound. Popped the hood. The engine shook a couple times. Nothing to it cause it has done that on occation. So I get in again and pump the gas alittle. Vroom Vroom....let off....oh man did it idle rough...dad said try again...same thing. The car started to shake. I turned it off. Said...Dad this thing ain't right. So I started to walk to the service center. I went in course no one to be seen. I said dad wait here and I am gonna go try it again. Maybe let it run see if it works through. Started it oh man its even worse. I pumped the gas and held it down alittle. Oh what the freak I thought. I had to keep my foot on alittle cause it seemed like it wanted to stall. I let off again and it rummed roughly to a silence. Man thats not good.

Now if they thought this was fixed then...what is broken I thought. I told them and my insurance company that this car purred when I had it before those whole mess. They understood. So they knew I expected that again. So I went and waited with my dad while the guy finished up a phone call. Once he got off I told him. He said Well I'm sorry about that guess we will have to purge the tank now and clean the lines out. He then said it did seem to run alittle rough the othr day but they thought it would clean up. So back again. GRRR!!!! I thought I would have my rid back. I guess not.

So the Saga continues...

They changed the fuel filter, but didn't bother to clean the tank out even after you said something had been dumped in the tank?
Smart....
Almost as good as having your mechanic misplace your keys so he can't even fix your rough idle! (BTW, he did finally call and he found my keys on top of another car!)

The shop didn't want to purge the tank. Think about it. What do you do with say, 5 to 20 gallons of gasoline noboby wants? With OSHA around, you have to dispose of it LEGALLY and that probably costs money, I know, they could just pass the cost on to you but the trouble of doing it and all. That would be my guess.

You know one of their reasons for doing it was because they didn't know what to do with the gas. The should worry about the cost on me cause my insurance is covering it all. Well minus the $100 I paid already. Even my insurance company called my mom today and sai that they should have purged the tank. So I am now off work and they are working on the car right now. I am waiting in town for them to see what happens. They think this is all that should need to be done.

So...we will see.

What did this white substance look like other than being white? Was the oil a milky white? Does the engine coolant look to have oil in it?

A white milky substance is usually cause by anitfreeze getting into the oil which can mean many different things.

Now that its back and running okay, I'd still check the oil every now and then to see if there is anymore of this white stuff.

But as long as its not making oil, your okay. LOL

Hey, I'll be the first to admit that during the winter I've been known to go out in the garage, give my car a big hug, and say how much I've missed it and that spring is only a few months away! :D

What can I say? I'd be lost without my cars! :P
