Hi Turbocharged400sbc, all,

Quote:
.......... how you calculate Hp from Torque and rpm and why ALL dyno graphs the Tq and Hp curves cross at 5250 rpm ...........

It happens because 5250 and RPM are part of the mathematical formula.
Quote:
......... kinda like estimating someones height from 20ft away with your thumb! ..........

So you're saying, nothing has changed, and I'm not behind the times?
Chassis dynos have always been used as a diagnostic tool and nothing more.
Quote:
.............. but even then you have to do calculations to adjust for barometric pressure/temp/humidity etc ...............

A timeslip shows what one ran on a given day.

Weather conditions are factored in during before and after timeslip comparisons while evaluating modifications or other forms of tuning.

Say you ran 12.20 one day and 12.40 on another after changing to a bigger cam.
If you didn't know the altitude changed from 2800 to 5500 ft. you would think the cam slowed you down, when in fact the cam change would have shown a 12.00 at 2800ft.
Your car ran a 12.20 and that fact will not change with weather conditions.
It will only change when you actually run that 12.00 at 2800 ft.
If you then go to the strip at sea level and run 11.60 with the same combo, then your car has run 11.60.

I used these numbers because I'm familiar with the that particular circumstance.

Now if someone can tell me: why one would run a known combination on a dyno in the first place?

Regards, Norm

They should have been able to compensate. I'm kinda pissed they didn't give me proper dyno sheets. Oh well. I'll be going to the track in coming weeks. Track numbers don't lie.
