Well I also got the touch up paint for the car (Paint World in New Haven CT they can match almost any color perfect) and I got the key for the hubcaps. I also changed my air filter. On Sat. I dumped a bottle of STP fuel injector cleaner in the gas tank, didnt make a diff that I could tell but I hope it helped a little. I also removed and flushed my coolent over flow tank and added some coolent. Guess thats better then my last update list lol.

I can mark off the FE3X front air dam and rear valance off the list. Picked those up a few weeks ago and test fitted them to the car. They totally transform the look and feel of the car! Very nice.

I also have the fender flares and just need to make my own rocker panels to match the originals.

I had thought about doing the same for mine but have in turn decided to just shave them off completely for a completely smooth front bumper. The fiberglass air dam comes with the indentations for the turn signals but you have to cut them out. I will just smooth the indentations out with body filler/fiberglass and then paint. There are small "pockets" just below the turns signals that were originally used for brake cooling ducts on the '85 FE3X concept.
I bought a pair of these side marker lights:




They are only 2.5" wide by 1.1" tall and will fit perfect in the air dam tucked away where they can't be easily seen unless lit.

I've also decided on a new color for the car. It is currently a Dark blue metallic that tends to have a green tint to it in direct sunlight. I really didn't like that and since I am putting new doors on the car and the jambs had to be painted anyway, now was the time to do a color change.
I am going to use the new Dodge Magnum Midnight Blue Metallic Pearl paint. It has a much nicer hue to it than my current blue. I believe it is also the same dark blue you see on the new Chrysler 300 and Ram trucks.

And I'm getting rid of the Fiero GT rear spoiler. So if anyone is interested in a decent rear spoiler, I just may have one for sale.

hey all, long time no post. Haven't been doing much with my car besides commuting in it. Not too much planned for it either. Going to put my Thule roof rack back on soon for transporting snowboards. Going to warranty my cyberdyne amp temp gauges because one of them quit working. An Accel supercoil is going to be installed soon in the interest of better mileage. Had to replace the rear springs 2 months ago, the left one snapped right in the middle, it was lucky that i put the rear sway bar in because that was all that kept it from falling out. Going to get a AAA Plus membership before the winter because the car is going to be driven to upstate NY and VT on snowboarding trips, and with 290,000 miles and a transmission that whines and has 100,000 miles on the rebuild who knows what is going to happen.

Just wondering how far everyone got with their list from last summer, this was mine from last yr and its much different this year.



1. Register the car (getting ready to within the next 2 weeks) *

Lets see, the body is off the frame. Frame is stripped bare.

I need to:

box frame
finish frame notch
buy new wheels (17x11's and 17x9.5's)
buy tires, 335/35ZR17's and 275/40ZR17's
Weld up engine mount holes so that only an Olds engine can be mounted in frame
blast and paint frame

Install new front G5 suspension<-- Plan change. Just ordered the Savitske Classic and Custom Pro-lite lightweight adjustable front upper control arms and Howe tall ball joints Stage II Kit.. The G5 suspension would be killer but, it wouldn't let me run the back spacing that I will need for the front wheels.
These will do nicely though. They let me keep my stock G-body spindle (instead of swapping to a B-body spindle) which in turn lets me keep the C5 brakes without any hassles. Not to mention when doing the B-body spindle swap, you'll gain more bumpsteer in the suspension due to the different geometry. So while you gain a better camber curve than stock, you also gain more bumpsteer too.
With the SC&C kit, you get all of the benefits of a negative camber curve while improving the bumpsteer better than it even was stock.


Install C5 Corvette front brakes
Install LS1 F-body rear disc brakes
Freshen up 455
Install T56 transmission
Install Ford 9" (or Corporate 8.5" rear)
mini-tub rear wheel wells
finish body work and body kit
Install front brake cooling ducts

That takes care of most of the mechanical. Then I have the interior which is a whole other list.

Well, let's see...quite a bit that I hope to accomplish....PLAN to accomplish on my 99 Intrigue:

* Replace front wheel bearings (DONE)
* Install FRAM Air Hog air filter (DONE)
* Install FRAM passenger compartment air filter
* Replace all four strut assemblies
* Install tubular rear trailing arms
* Install front strut tower bar
* Install Goodridge brake hose kit, bleed/change brake fluid
* Install TransGo Shift Kit, replace filter, and put new fluid in of course
* Install audio system

still have to modify our firewall pieces and reinstall the interior (had to TIG the cage in with the headliner in place...no other way to keep/get it in there lol no spatter with TIG!

still have more than a couple odds and ends
oh and soon.......Plates and registration....go woop on a few 5.0's and Z28's and humiliate this one kid with a loud (not fast...) Honda who keeps talking shit
oh and one of these days I need to weigh her maybe at the dragstrip at the UM3 meet/car show raceday.

It's a wierd idea though, gettin rid of the cutlass after having it so long.

you would probably do better to get a slightly older 2500 dep on how big of a trailer and equipment your hauling around the 1500's 4l60e trans isnt anywhere near as strong as the 2500/3500 4L80E trans...

then you dont have to get a heavier truck when your buisness takes off and your trucking all over the place!

I agree, I'd look for at least a 3/4 ton if you're going to be hauling crap around.... you'll appreciate it when you need to put a yard or two of top soil in there and it doesn't slam the truck to the ground (as it would on a 1/2 ton)

That one you linked to is really nice... but might be too squishy for what you'll most likely end up doing.

It all depends on how you intend to use it.

yeah, it's just that I am lookin to do this for some extra money so it's not like I will be doing it full time, but then again you never know what's gonna come out of it once I graduate.

Replaced licence plate holder ($24) and front turn signal housing ($51) got parts from local Buick dealer. I also painted my air cleaner (which want originally on my list) For the second car Ive taken over my parents Civic so the Oldsmobile ONLY comes out when the weather is nice. The days of driving in the rain are over !!!

Well enjoying its new status as garage queen, the Olds went for an estimaite (cant spell) for a new headliner and visors the shop said $310 (they are a reputable place and both my autoshop teacher and the guy nextdoor (his corvette) had work done there. I made an appointment 3 weeks from today to get it done, so hopefully it will greatly improve the looks of the interior.

fix the danm thing... lol
