Ive owned this car for 3 years since my father bought it in 1993, it is i need of major repairs now and was when he gave it to me.

any suggestions on the following?

oil pain damaged, needs actual gasket (leaks yes)
rear drums grind metal to metal and currently fail to hold car with cable adjusted to max thread
needs new throttle body due to 3 broken torx bolts
replacement on entire a/c system and heater core
possible rewiring from relays due to some soaked wires and overheated wires
needs new radiator and hoses

work ive done:

replaced axles, rotars, done head gasket work, water and steering pump, internal window mechanisms and minor repair work including front end collision w/ headlight housing, grille, hood, and bumper

any suggestions on future body work such as doors and rear side body?
front fenders seem easy enough to take out and rebolt

other than the major problems (including radio right speaker channel fails to work) this car is a blast to drive
its got amazing acceleration and top fuel economy for its age
i hope to own this car for the rest of my life... which might end inside of it

Replace the oil pan gasket? (Is there any other gasket besides the actual one?)

This is because the rear drums are supposed to have PADS in them, and the pads will hold the car, not metal to metal contact. You need to replace the brake pads, and more than likely the drums at this point.

If you cant extract the bolts, replace the throttle body.

Is the car worth it?

Soaked wires? Soaked in what? Which relays?

Make this a priority.

They may seem easy to just unbolt and rebolt, but consider you need to remove the whole front end,not just the fenders. There is more to hanging a fender then bolting it up and going. You need to align the panel in 8 directions, and make sure it is just perfect, that is, if you want to do it right. You may as well do the AC, and radiator work while the front end is off, and any other engine work will be easier without the front clip on the car.

The speaker is the least of your problems.

For your sake, I hope not. I have never heard of a iron duke being described as "amazing accelleration".

you have done alot of work on this car, hope it works out for you.

Hi philosophic, andrewk, hello everyone,

I don't know much about those new fangled machines, but aren't pads used on rotors, and shoes with drums?

Right after the brakes and tires.

A speaker that doesn't work, is not going to get anyone killed. Can't say the same for brakes and tires.

Regards, Norm

No, it was just the charcoal for the grill... Good news is that the coals are ready. You want one burger or two?
