My name is Matt Sterrett and I own a 1991 Olds Cutlass Supreme. I have a problem with my dash, the spedeometer, odometer, and gas gauge will sometimes show up perfectly and sometimes will flash and sometimes just won't show up. I'm am confused as to what to do and don't want to spend alot of money if I can avoid it. Is this a problem that can be fixed at a dealership?, maybe just a regular garage?, or can I do it myself? I am desperate and need this problem fixed ASAP. Your input would be greatly appreciated. thanks in advance, Matt Sterrett

Hi msterrett_7777777, hello everyone,

Welcome to TOC.

Not likely it's the circuit board. Sounds like a loose electrical connection at the fuse, the board or somewhere between.

Yes.

In this case, I suggest an independent auto electrical shop. Preferably, the one the others use for the problems they can't solve. The diagnostic charges will be by the hour, but they'll find and fix the problem quicker, and the bill should be much less.

That would depend on your mechanical aptitude and skill/experience level.

Also depends whether you want it fixed now. If you try it yourself, using information from a discussion forum, it might take longer than you'd like.

Now, when Brando posts the information from the FSM and/or Alldata, you'll be able to answer that last question for yourself.

Regards, Norm
