At the shop, we've been working on restoring an ancient 1953 bennet gas pump. Its done, and its beautiful! We've all had our hands in this project, so its quite satisfying to see it done, and gleaming. Just thought it would be neat to show on the site...

What do you guys think?

Snazzy if I may say so! Back when that thing was in service gas was cheap as dirt!

oh yeah, its a good looking pump, those bennets. You wouldnt beleive the hoops we had to jump through to make everything original. Every peice on that pump is from 1953, and MOST of them are from the original pump. Except the nozzle, which is a reproduction fillrite.

Looks like an excellent display for the front entrance.

If that pump is "ancient" from 1953, I hate to think what that makes me.
Seriously, nice job.

Well, I would LOVE to have a chance to work on some of the volumetric "glass jar" pumps from the 20's... You open a lever, and fill the glass on top of the pump to the desired amount. Then you open another lever, and the contents of the glass is emptied into your tank.

That would be a cool pump to restore!

With a built in hand pump. The bottom of the glass was about six feet high and was marked like a kitchen measuring cup, only in gallons. I'd guess it held about 5 US gallons.

WYSIWYG had a different meaning in those days.

Via gravity feed.

Especially on Company time.
