Can someone post the schematic for the corner lamps (besides headlight) on a 88 royale ls with 3800.

the left one will not work and I probed along the line but there is no power - right is ok. Need to find the source and check it...

Thanx

Hi Brando,

Thank You. Can you also pass along the info on what Connector C202 is (# of connectors, size, shape, etc) so I can find it.

Also, are the left yellow turn indicators below the lights and on the side (the ones that flash back and forth between front and side) on the same circuit?.

This is a bit of a challenge - the only thing out of the entire turning lights system that does not work is this one bulb on the left. Sofar I have not found any corroded wires - now I'll have to check under the dash to see if the power wire broke off - unfortunately there are tons of orange wires underneath there <grin>

Turn Signal Diagram (Had to piece that one together, two pages...two little squigglies? on 14 and 15 in middle of page are connected, that's just where it was split)

Beautiful, that's exactly what I needed. Looks like the corner light circuit is not part of the main turning signal system although it uses the same fuse 8. That would at least explain why the cornering system can stop working but the rest still works - one mystery solved...

Thanx

Continuing along...

Both schematics above show the turn module as the 'turn/hazard switch' - are they the same or is the corner one a separate one?

I checked all the wiring under hood last night to the firewall and specially followed the orange one associated with the power for the right corner light - it was fine all along. I probed it along the way as well and no power was on the wire (whereas there was on the right side one).

So the issue appears to be under the dash.

I checked the fuse again, its fine, and then checked the power coming out of the fuse - fine again.

I could not quite probe the other side of Connector C202 but tonite I plan on making it more accessible so I can probe the in and out.

I'll then follow the wiring from A17 to the turn module and probe the in and out to see if they have power coming and out.

I'm starting to suspect the turn module but what then does not make sense is why only the corner light does not work..

the saga goes on...

Ok, got it narrowed down to the turing signal switch. looks like the corner lights are a part of it in a separate internal circuit.

Can someone please post a steering wheel schematic so I'm not going in blind when I take it apart and replace the switch.

Thank You. :)

As you can see in the wiring diagram, there are several contacts in the TS switch.

If the contact that controls the light does not close, power cannot get to the bulb.

Thanx Brando and 88 Coupe,

Yes I have airbags and the problem is definitely the internals of the turning signal switch. Replaced it and problem is gone. Not a fun job though...

Thanx for the help everyone.

Gary
