Mystery dead-end hose starts at the top of the water pump. Leaks oil, but I don't know where it's coming from or where it's supposed to go. I've looked in the Chilton manual but can't find it. I'd like to find a better way of sealing it, any ideas?
Thats the oil pressure sending unit, under the hose. It is used for either the warning light, or your oil pressure gauge, if so equipped. The hose clamp over the plastic portion seems to have created a leak.
IIRC, the part is no more than 10 dollars, for a sensor that trips a light. One for a gauge is more expensive, but still reasonable.
You should also have a "mystery wire" around somewhere that hooks up to that sensor.
If you don't want a gauge or light, you can plug it with a pipe plug, and get rid of the sensor, and attached hose.
