Hey guys, been a while... I've been a busy person lately. I am currently, amongst many other things, been playing with flying RC planes "FPV". FPV means first person video, or flying the plane directly from the cockpit, over live transmitted video to the ground.

I've spent months of tinkering / adjusting / playing, finally have something to be proud of... check out the vid, if you like. Its a lot of fun, and has been a major learning experience.

And, a video of it in action...

Let me know what you think!!!

Cool hobby.

The view from the cockpit makes everything come together.

thanks norm, its a lot of fun. Especially trial and error, getting 2 RF devices to co-operate together in opposite directions, let alone at distances nearing 2km is tough! Learning more than I ever wanted to know about RF. Weird stuff.

But anyways, thanks for looking, the work is finally paying off, and starting to get to be a lot of fun. And, as I get to be a better pilot, it will get less expensive also :)

Cool!
I'd like to know more about what's powering all of it...

Never heard of an FPV until now...

Brando, currently, I use a 2200mah lithium polymer battery to power the motor, radio receiver, servo's and video camera & transmitter. If I go easy on it, I can fly (and use thermals) around for at least an hour before getting weak on power. If I am pushing it, or its windy, its about 20-30 minutes in the air.

I have tried paralleling 2 2200mah batteries, but its extra weight in the air, and I dont like flying that long at one go anyways.

Fixed the broken pictures from first post:
