A while back my computer had failed from a power surge (surge protectors did nothing, no warranty since they're past the 2 years or whatever it was).
Replaced motherboard, power supply, cpu, and ram...all the latest hardware. I didn't reinstall windows x64 (which I should have) and just booted up the old install...to my surprise and delight, it actually worked...
Albeit, it ran very very slow.
So I decided to get a WD Velociraptor 300GB 10,000RPM hard drive...man this thing flies.
With all this new hardware, I thought I might as well install Windows Vista Ultimate x64, and so I did.
Moment of silence....
I actually like it....
Doesn't bog the quad core AMD 9950 Phenom Black Edition down at all...

My only weak point is the my old video card, ATI X800XL.
Thermaltake Tsunami Case
ABS Tagan BZ800 800W Power Supply
MSI K9A2 Platinum Motherboard
AMD Phenom 9950 BLACK EDITION 2.6GHz Quad-Core Processor
OCZ Platinum 4GB (2 x 2GB) DDR2 1066 Memory (eventually 8GB)
Western Digital VelociRaptor WD3000GLFS SATA 3.0Gb/s 300GB 10,000 RPM 16MB Cache Hard Drive (expensive but worth it)
2 - 250GB SATA 3.0Gb/s Hitachi Hard Drives (currently full of my old files, probably run them in RAID 1 with an Ubuntu install)
Sapphire Radeon X800 XL Ultimate 256MB (need to upgrade)
Some other miscellaneous drives..etc
Anyone else using Vista?
