My 91 cutlass ciera has the spoke rims and i was wondering if anyone knew of a good way to clean the whole thing like in between the spokes where brake bust builds up.....

unless you feel like disassembling them, probably the easiest way is to use a non etching spray on wheel cleaner, such as Eagle One...there are several different brands and types of spray on wheel cleaner...read the directions before you buy to see if its compatable with your wheels..

I find that Bleach-Wite works good.

my wire hubcaps are the originals, I cleaned them up by totally dis-assembling them and polishing each individual spoke.... one...at... a... time. I remember sitting on the floor in my basement in the winter just polishing spokes for hours on end.

how do u dissasemble them i was thinking that would be easier and make it much better looking

I'm going to have to disagree with ya there... I took a look at the pic of your hubcaps on your cardoamin site and first of all, they're not bad to begin with, but if you were to take them off and use some chrome polish and a rag on each spoke you'll probably get some more shine out of them. dissasembling them will probably be more hassle than it's worth in your case.

I had wire hubcaps on my caprice... I took each cap off individually, and just sat in a chair with a rag, chrome polish and did what I could without taking them apart (i didnt know how to). All 4 took me a couple hours but I didnt mind - they looked brand new afterwards!

Try the chemicals first, but in the end, there's no substitute for a little elbow grease.

i looked at my spoke rims and it is hard to get in between the spokes so if anyone can direct me on how to take then apart i am willing to put up with the hassel to clean them thanks

I don't know how yours work specificly, but pop them off and look on the back for any bolts or screws you can take out.... usually the center part will come out, making the spokes fall all over the place. good luck

there are 3 rivets holding a black plasic piece in place.

then it sounds like the only way they can come apart is to drill out the rivets... if you have a pop rivet gun, you can rivet them back together later, it isn't a huge deal, but still makes it more of a hassle.

in my opinion I'd say leave them together, sometimes when you take those things apart they never go back together the same, no matter how hard you try. you don't want them loose and ratteling around when you go down the road.

with the hubcap off the wheel you should be able to clean them pretty throughly, anything more than that in your case would be a waste of time.

rattling hubcaps are the WORST!!! I cant stand listening to rattling hubcaps. Thats the only reason I was able to come up with the willpower to save up enough for my wheels!

The reason I am saving up for rims is because I just want a reason to get my white walls turned around, or just get new tires too!! I'm looking at getting some alero wheels!

i like the white wall look on the oldsmobile not sure why thought they are a pain in the ass to keep clean

well 4 hours later my spoke rims are clean as i have ever seen them it took a lot of effort but it looks much better thanks to all for your halp and advice

i just put on my cragar super spokes on my 84 delta, looks nice i'll be sure to get some pictures soon
