That had to be a joke, no one in their right mind could think that a honda 4 banger could push that heavy car faster than even a stock 307

what are you talking about brando??? He'd just have to jack up the rear end on the car, and it would be going down-hill all the time... He'd pick up amazing amounts of speed then!!

I would probly go faster if he cut a big hole in the floor and peddled Flinstone style! My dad got a Civic, and in that light little shell, its a very good engine, quick and ready to go, but even add the weight diff between the Civic(4 door) and my Cutlass Ciera, and that engine would be slow (that a 500 lbs difference). Even turning the air on in that car makes going from a dead stop a chore ( and I have driven it, that car cant hold a candle to a GM V6). To put that engine in a Olds that weighs more then mine by another few hundred pounds (rear wheel drive Cutlass Supremes from the 1980's are 3000-3400 lbs depending on the model) is just stupid. Thats 600-1000 lbs more then my dads Civic LX 4 dr! And who in their right mind would want to do that to a nice car?

Hi All
I was checking this one out one last time before deleting its bookmark.
Up until now I thought someone posted it to see how many would take it serious (I thought it was funny how many did) but now I think differently.
Brando: take a look at the second post and tell me if there is any way he could know that.
The administrator planted the thread to increase exposure to his site.
I would expect as much as his Olds has a Chev engine and the name of his site is "All Olds Power".
Regards, Norm

yea, it says somewhere that that site doesn't descrimenate against chevy engines in olds cars, haha..... personally I'd never go out of my way to put anything but an olds engine in my olds, but if someone showed up with a brand new high performance 454 or 502 at my door and wanted to give it to me for free, then I think I'd have to take it. But that's the only way I could ever justify putting a chevy engine in an olds.

a little off topic here, but i was just wondering about this, did the 502 come as the stock or optional engine in ANY car EVER? I know they came in alot of performance boats and maybe some motorhomes, but every 502 I've seen in a car was not the original one.

Ummmm.....why not sell it and build a decent Olds engine? That would be my first reaction to the situation.
My second reaction would be to buy a Monte Carlo and install the 502 and sell it to some Ch*vy lovin redneck for a decent price then use the money on the Olds.

To my knowledge there was never a 502 in any production car. It came out purely as an aftermarket crate engine in the mid-late '90's.

believe it or not someone did post that funny idea on our site! I thought it was funny but then again so do most people who have head of me and my best friends 1994 442 twin engine cutlass (both ARE engines from Oldsmobile's but all of the new engines are GM Corporate! even technically the 500= inch aluminum DRCE (genIII) block!

duuhhh... I didn't even think of that at the time, yea, that's what I'd do. (even though it would never happen to begin with) I was just trying to illustrate that it would take a monumental event for any non-olds engine to end up in my Olds!
