My 70 442 has front disc and rear drum brakes. In 70 a metering valve was used at the master cylinder in conjunction with a seperate proportioning valve on the frame.

In 71 they used a combination valve which incorporates a metering valve and proportioning into one unit.

Can I remove the 2 valve system and replace it with a 71 combination valve with no other modifications?

Thanks,
John

Hi blonzz, all
ROP would be better for this type question. Do you see an advantage to making this change? Just wondering as I'll likley not change anything on my '70.
Regards, Norm

Norm,

I need to change the proportioning valve on my car. I figured I would just change over to a combination valve.

brake systems were pretty straightforward back then so i don't think it will be a problem changing to the combination valve. also, while you are doing all that brake line plumbing, why not toss a line lock in there?
