Alright, I've decided that instead of using a cold air intake (unless DP ever sends me the free one), that I will be upgrade the air filter, not only for better performance....but because in the long run it will actually be cheaper to not be changing paper filters all the time.

So here are my current options:

K&N, Accel Blue, or Green air filters.
Currently I am leaning towards Green, even though it's a little more expensive than K&N and Accel Blue, it sounds worth it from what I read on their site.

Anyone who's had experience with any of them, let me know.

I almost got a K&N filter for my car, but I asked this same question on another site (a-body.net) and the over all response was it isnt worth the money, so I just got a regular fram filter...

Why would it not be worth the money when you can keep the same filter and just clean/re-oil it....verses replacing the entire thing for about $12-15 each. Plus more air flow.

Well my new one cost $5.99 so to compare that to $50 for the K&N its easier to pay 6 bux then 50

Hmm...it's only around $32 for the K&N filter. For my car anyways...
Ok, so $5.99 for every 10,000 miles compared to just cleaning the K&N, Accel, Green, or the Air Hog filter...

The box says change filter every 12,000 miles (had to add that to brake balls lol)

6 buks every 12k miles, money money money, get k&n

don't forget you have to add in the cost of the special cleaning solution and oil too!

Brando...it's generally a tossup...You'll find that for every person who likes the K&N and says it's worth it, there will be another who will argue against it and say it's not worth the money. I've seen some of the comparison testing which shows the K&N flowing better new than a standard filter, but in regards to long term useage, I can't say. If you were in a high dust and dirt situation, it may be more feasable to go with the K&N, as its cleanable vs replacing a paper filter, but otherwise it's more a matter of personal choice than anything, bro. Some racers say they've noticed improvements using one, others no difference, and yet others a slight loss in ET, so its one of those "I've got an extra $33 to blow...why not buy a K&N" kinda deals....lol

I have a K&N for each coupe. $2 & $3 (used) at the local swap meet.
No performance change vs the generic $12 per 10 pack filters (new) I use on all but the 307.

Assuming an increase in airflow:
On an injected car I can see a slight enrichment of the mixture to compensate for more airflow, but there will not enough flow difference for a jet change in a carb.

I believe, I have stated my views on advertising and they are still being reinforced on a daily basis.
In this case K&N is wagering (among other things) you will not be driving your car a million miles.

Thats the truth, I have a friend that teaches automotive Votech and he has to go to lots of classes himself to keep up on things. The word he is getting from the industry is cars are being viewed more and more as "returnable" or "recyclable" with an estimated longevity of five to seven years. This is with the Governments blessing: think of it, newer cars on the road (average) means cleaner air and better overall gas mileage, people buying a "replacement" every five years is good for the auto makers, good for the moneylenders, and good for the aftermarket people. Maybe not good for us though. I don't know if I agree with ALL of that, but it is food for thought. I just attended the GoodGuys show here in Kansas City this last weekend and was encouraged by all the hot rods, street rods, restored cars, sleepers, G machines, gassers, etc, etc, as well as all the people who just came to see them. I think our hobby is healthy, but for the general public, cars are getting to be veiwed as a throw away item after about five years or so.......
